A fantastic day of Meavy Merriment

Posted by Dartmoor Brewery in Nov 2014

Christmas came early this Saturday to the Dartmoor Village of Meavy when the Santas of the Jail Ale Society (JAAS) arrived heralded by Minstrels music and a chorus of Ho Ho Hos! The DartmoorBorder Morris Dancers greeted them on the village green, along side Dartmoor legend Tony Beard who arrived to present a cheque for over 1,000 for Children in Need that had been raised by the Dartmoor Border Morris dancers in Tavistock the previous Saturday. The festive occasion- Meavy Christmas Fair- was held in the Village Hall where local craft stores and our Dartmoor Brewery Bar launched our Christmas Ale & Santas Secret, which raised over 150 for Children in Need and the local Mary Budding Trust supporting children with special needs. Fuelled by Christmas Ale and festive cheer, the JAAS Santas teamed up with the Dartmoor Border Morris Dancers for a 'Strictly' special- it was fast & furious, but thankfully everyone left in one piece! Dartmoor Brewery loved being involved in this event which truly held the Spirit of Christmas, filled with happiness and enjoyment for all. We would like to give a special thanks to the villagers of Meavy, Meavy Amateur Dramatics, Stephen Earp- landlord of the Royal Oak, Tony Beard, the Dartmoor Border Morris Dancers and Scott Prideaux with his JAAS Santas. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2015.
