The Firkin Challenge 2017

Posted by Mike C in Jun 2017

Dartmoor Brewery was proud to sponsor the 2017 Firkin Challenge, in support of the brilliant Jeremiah's Journey charity.

The 6th annual Firkin Challenge took place on Sunday 4th June, and saw slightly bonkers teams of two lugging an empty Dartmoor Brewery firkin (an awkwardly-shaped and distinctly heavy 9-gallon cask) aroud a 4 mile course starting and finishing at the Royal Oak Inn in Meavy, and taking in the normally relaxing beauty-spots of Burrator Reservoir and Sheepstor.

Unveiling our New Extension

Posted by Mike C in May 2017

The £400k extension, part-funded by the South West Growth Fund, includes an expansion of production space and a new state-of-the-art boiler system integral to the brewing process.

The extension increases the floor space of the brewery complex by 40%, and provides additional storage and processing space, ensuring “grain to glass” quality control and beer consistency.  The improved infrastructure also ensures on-going compliance with the brewing industry SALSA quality scheme, within which Dartmoor Brewery has recently achieved compliance.
