We are right back on home territory with our latest pub of the week - the excellent Prince of Wales in Princetown.
It was in this very spot that Dartmoor Brewery was born, back in 1994, in a building at the back which now forms the pub's popular bunkhouse accommodation. The Brewery soon moved to purpose-built premises just up the road, but it's no surprise that you'll always find excellently kept Jail Ale, Legend and Dartmoor IPA on the bar at the Prince of Wales!

We love brewing great beer. We also love supporting great local community causes and hard-working charities. So, for the third year running, we’re offering 100 casks of our award-winning Jail Ale to selected charities, events and community causes, to assist with their fund-raising.
There’s no catch. We just need a few details about your event, charity or community cause, so that we can consider you for one of our 100 casks. Our priority is to support your cause, but we’d also love it if you’d give Dartmoor Brewery a shout-out before, during or after your event.

Dartmoor may be our home, but we are quite partial to a trip to Devon's coasts too. For a pub by a beach, the Ferry Boat Inn in the South Devon fishing village of Shaldon is pretty hard to beat.
The Ferry Boat Inn is a stone's throw from the beach. Quite literally! Matt and Michelle have been at the helm since 2018, having previously built up plenty of experience in the hospitality trade, and they offer well-kept beers (including our very own Jail Ale, naturally) and a warm welcome for locals and visitors alike.

For great beer, hearty pub food and a traditionally warm welcome, the family-friendly Avon Inn is definitely well worth a visit.
The Avon Inn can be found at the heart of the village of Avonwick, a stone's-throw from the edge of Dartmoor National Park and 6 miles from the bustling and bohemian Devon market town of Totnes.
Mark and Sue have been at the helm since 2015, and have built a solid reputation for the Avon Inn as a friendly locals pub, whilst also offering a warm welcome to anyone stopping by for the first time.
There’s an inviting wood burning stove for the...
If fresh air and a good walk are your thing, there's no shortage of places to get your walking boots on here on Dartmoor. However, for the first in an occasional series of great pub walks, we're heading to Devon's "English Riviera" on the South Coast, for a walk which takes in some awesome coastal scenery and three brilliant pubs.
Torquay Harbour Pub WalkGetting here:
The starting point is Torquay Harbour. If you're arriving by car,
you'll find various car parks clearly signed around the harbour and
town centre. There are frequent local buses serving the harbour bus
stops, and Torquay's rail...
