Since brewing our first pint of popular beer Jail Ale in 1994, we’ve grown to become Devon’s second largest brewery. We’re proud of our dedicated team and the beers we produce, and have reached some significant milestones in our history.

Dartmoor Brewery's famous Jail Ale is enjoyed by beer drinkers across the South West and beyond, and in 2018 was recognised on a global platform with a Bronze in the World Beer Awards. Read more >

We gained a highly regarded industry accreditation for the quality of our production processes. The SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) award for the brewing industry was developed in conjunction with the Cask Marque scheme which recognises excellence in the service of craft ale.

Dartmoor Brewery launches fourth permanent beer, Dartmoor Best.

We invest in new fleet of branded vehicles.

Rebrand unveiled.

Our seasonal beer Three Hares becomes the SIBA Gold Award winner in the Speciality Beer category.

We install two further fermenting vessels to cope with growing demand.
2012
Dartmoor Brewery expands with new fermenting vessels and casks. We are featured in an advertising campaign with Lloyds bank.
2010
Our new beer, Legend, is launched and scoops a South West Great Taste Award.
2009
Master Brewer - Mike Lunney joins Dartmoor Brewery from Gales.

Plans for the new brewery are commissioned.

We purchase the new brewery site from the Duchy of Cornwall at the old Princetown railway yard.
1996
HRH The Prince of Wales visits Dartmoor Brewery and enjoys a pint of Jail Ale.
1995
Jail Ale wins the Premium Beer category at SIBA South West Awards!

Dartmoor Brewery is established by Simon Loveless and Philip Davies in the back of the Prince of Wales pub in Princetown.
