The Tally Ho in the Devon village of Littlehempston is a real gem of a pub (and offers a very fine pint of Legend from Dartmoor Brewery). “The Tally”, as the regulars call it, is South Devon's first community-owned pub, thanks to a group of loyal supporters from all over the world, and is one of three finalists in the South West of England category of the Community Ownership Awards 2016. Built as a Devon Church House, The Tally has been a part of village life for around 500 years, as a meeting place for friends and neighbours, and its reputation for a warm welcome has seen it hosting a steady stream of thirsty and hungry visitors from far and wide. The Tally was bought by the community and far-flung supporters to save it from closure, and to protect its fine hospitality for future generations. Step through the door and you'll find a friendly pub where regulars and visitors are equally at home, and an excellent selection of cask ales and fine wines. As befits its location in glorious Devon, you'll also enjoy excellent food prepared from superb local ingredients. The low ceilings and warm atmosphere create a cozy haven in winter, whilst in the warmer months you can enjoy the pub's delightful garden, looked after by volunteers.
