Pub of the Week: The Offshore Bar

Posted by Mike C in Aug 2023

Summer isn't over yet, so for our latest pub of the week we are heading for Devon's glorious south coast - the English Riviera to be precise - and the excellent Offshore Bar.

The Offshore Bar boasts a perfect position in the heart of Torquay, right next to the bustling harbour, with a laid back alfresco terrace right on the harbour wall. Sit in the sun and enjoy a Jail Ale and a bite to eat, and watch the world go by - on land and water.

With a well-deserved reputation for good food, the Offshore has a great all-day choice on the menu, with...

The Great British Beer Garden: The Bell Inn

Posted by Mike C in Sep 2020

There's still a bit of time to enjoy the pleasures of the Great British Beer Garden before it gets too chilly.  If you're looking for a brilliant beer garden on the edge of Dartmoor, we can heartily recommend the Bell Inn in Bovey Tracey.

The Bell is a proper traditional pub in the heart of this historic Devon market town. They've put in place lots of great ways to make people feel safe when visiting the pub, and the large and lovely beer garden is a hidden gem and a real oasis of calm.

It goes without saying that they also serve an excellent pint...

The Great British Beer Garden: Churston Manor

Posted by Mike C in Aug 2020

For a Great British Beer Garden close to the coast, and with plenty of space for a relaxed bit of socially-distanced refreshment, head on over to the Churston Manor near Brixham.

For the time being, the Churston Manor is making the most of the summer days with a purpose-built Lawn Bar, where you'll find a cracking pint of Jail Ale among the line-up which includes a full bar selection, soft drinks, teas and coffees.

All the COVID-safe measures are in place, as you'd expect, but the main attraction is the huge lawned area with lots of tables, and plenty of space for all...
