Pub of the Week: The Cornwood Inn

Our pub of the week is the superbly welcoming Cornwood Inn - a stone's throw from the city of Plymouth, nestled in gloriously peaceful Devon countryside.

Tina is the general manager of this community owned hostelry, and is on hand to offer a traditional, warm welcome. Tina and the team are always busy organising popular community-led events, including the awesome Cornfest (Saturday 24th August) raising funds for St Luke's Hospice.

You'll always find a line-up of Dartmoor's finest on the bar, whether you fancy a perfect pint of our famous Jail Ale, a deeply satisfying Legend, a refreshing Dartmoor IPA or even our Wistman's cider.

Good food is available at lunchtimes and in the evening, with hearty pub classics including a pie of the week, Plymouth-landed fish, great steaks and a mighty mixed grill.

The pretty village of Cornwood can be found on the southern fringes of Dartmoor, and is a 25 minute drive from Plymouth. It's a great choice if you're planning a day out on Dartmoor, or exploring Devon's beautiful South Hams. The Cornwood Inn is also just two miles from the excellent Dartmoor Zoo.

There are some really enjoyable walks in the local area, and you'll find a handy guide to some of the best local walks on the Cornwood Inn's website.
