Pub of the Week: The Drake Manor Inn

A great local pub is right at the heart and soul of any Devon village - and the Drake Manor Inn in the charming village of Buckland Monachorum is certainly a great local pub!

Buckland Monachorum sits on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, in glorious Devon countryside, and just a 25 minute drive from the maritime city of Plymouth. The Drake Manor is fittingly named after the renowned explorer and vice admiral Sir Francis Drake, who made his Elizabethan era home at the nearby Buckland Abbey (now in the care of the National Trust, and very well worth a visit).

The Drake Manor Inn takes pride of place in the centre of the village, nestling between the church and the babbling stream.

You can look forward to a perfect pint of Jail Ale or Dartmoor IPA - or our excellent Dartmoor Zero if you're looking for full flavour minus the alcohol.

The cosy and welcoming bar is full of character and conversation, whilst the splendid beer garden is the spot for al fresco dining or a little refreshment after a good walk.

The menu is updated regularly, and features locally sourced, seasonal dishes - and a very popular Sunday roast.

The Drake Manor is a destination in itself - but it's also a great choice if you're having a day out visiting Buckland Abbey, or the Garden House - known as one of the finest gardens in Britain.
