With Dartmouth Regatta coming up (30th August - 1st September 2018), we thought a trip to this stunning Devon estuary town was in order, and would like to introduce you to the rather splendid Royal Castle Hotel.
To include the Royal Castle Hotel in our Pub-of-the-Week slot might appear something of a misnomer. It's certainly much more of a hotel than a pub. But we love the way that the Royal Castle combines hotel comfort and style upstairs, with such a welcoming bar downstairs, where locals and tourists can enjoy the cheerful bustle of the hospitable surroundings alongside hotel guests staying...
You'll find the Oxenham Arms Hotel and Restaurant in South Zeal, a beautiful, unspoilt village on the Northern edge of Dartmoor National Park, and as one of Devon's oldest inns, it's definitely worth a visit.
There are plenty of historic inns on Dartmoor, but the Oxenham Arms has the dual distinction of being a former medieval monastery, and the oldest CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) heritage inn in Devon. Even before you step inside, you'll sense the history of this 12th Century buidling, originally built by Benedictine monks. Uniquely there is a 5000-year old standing stone in the centre of the hotel,...
We're out and about on the Isle of Wight this week, spreading the Dartmoor Brewery word to the thirsty sailing competitors and spectators at Cowes Week. We thought it only right that the Isle of Wight should be represented in our Pub of the Week slot - and in a break with our tradition we're featuring not just one, but two Pubs of the Week on the island!
Our first stop is the Duke of York in Cowes, where our Jail Ale has been enjoying a prime slot on the Pop-Up Bar throughout Cowes Week. The Duke of York is a Cowes...
We've boosted our Dartmoor Brewery regional sales team, with the appointment of Tim Kellow as Sales Manager.
Tim brings with him a wealth of experience in the South West beer sector, latterly with Sharps Brewery in Cornwall.
The new appointment is part of our focus on developing strong links with key trade customers in the South West region, for both our established portfolio which includes the famous Jail Ale and Legend, and our innovative Dartmoor Discovery range of small-batch craft ales.
Richard Smith, Managing Director of Dartmoor Brewery, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Tim to the team. He has an enviable track-record in the industry,...
We're proud to be sponsoring Exeter-based Row for the Ocean – a team of four women who are aiming to complete the world’s toughest rowing race this December by rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic.
In addition to their bid to complete the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2018, the team is also aiming to raise £50,000 to support the educational work of Surfers Against Sewage, and is backing Plastic Free Exeter, a campaign which aims to make Exeter the largest accredited plastic-free city in the UK by 2020. As well as engaging with commercial sponsors including Dartmoor Brewery, the team launched a crowd-funding...
